Oh Hey April, You’re Going to be AWESOME

Happy April everyone! This month has the potential to be seriously epic. So much Royal activity my head is spinning.

There is a royal baby on the way. The Duchess of Cambridge is due to give birth to her second child (in under two years oh hey thanks Kate xx), at some point this month. While the pre-birth hype isn’t as high as it was ahead of Prince George’s birth, we are all secretly – and some of us not so secretly – super excited to watch a door again. Well, not so much the door but SO much welcoming another Cambridge baby into this world.

Aside from the pure fact that Kate is about to have a baby, it’s *when* she could have the baby that’s adding to the potential epicness of it all. How about April 21? The baby would share a birthday with its great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II. Or what about April 29? Mom and Dad’s fourth wedding anniversary? I think my royalist heart just exploded at the thought. No matter what, there will be a lot to celebrate this month. They may as well just rename “April” to “Royal.” And by they, I mean the whole world.

Oh and let’s not forget, The Royal We by Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan comes out on April 7. That’s next Tuesday. Baby, you can arrive that day – the fug girls deserve it.

Congratulations to What Kate Wore!

Yesterday, TIME named one of the royal blogging circle’s crown jewels, What Kate Wore, among the top 25 blogs of 2012. Susan is beyond deserving of this amazing honor; as a royal blogger (far from her level of dedication), I would not be able to write about Kate’s enviable wardrobe without her!

For those of you who follow @WhatKateWore on Twitter (if you’re not..what is wrong with you?!) you know that she is the ultimate on The Duchess of Cambridge’s fashion updates, never missing a L.K. Bennett covered step.

A tip of the fascinator to you, Susan! The honor is so well deserved.

Kate’s Closet

I know, I never blogged William & Kate’s Diamond Jubilee tour – I am the worst. I know most of you can relate when I say keeping up with a 12 hour time difference in the midst of “real life” was next to impossible. One thing I did take away from the tour was this – Kate is the ultimate in class, elegance and style. So, to make up for the lack of posts and to have a little fun during this royal lull, I have decided to compile some looks I would love to see hanging in Kate’s closet.

We all envy her wardrobe and if you’re anything like me (and some of my Twitter friends – you know who you are), you often see an outfit and think it would look stunning  on The Duchess of Cambridge.

‘Casual’ Engagements

Petite Sailor Button Sleeve Dress, The Loft
I actually own this dress and it is currently my favorite item hanging in my closet. I don’t pretend I can pull off half the looks that Kate can, but I could definitely see her wearing this to an afternoon charity engagement or on a plane ride to/from a tour.

Duck Egg Lace Skater Dress, Miss Selfridge
These colors would be perfect on Kate in the spring/summer. Maybe she’s already worn it because the item is sold out!

I don’t know where this dress is from or who designs it (I even got WhatKateWore in on the case), but when I saw this a few months ago I immediately thought it would have been the perfect dress to wear on the South Pacific tour.

Zarita Lace Sheath Dress, Diane von Furstenberg
This has Kate written all over it! The Duchess of Cambridge has worn DVF before (green dress worn in LA/Zara’s rehearsal dinner), and the lace is right up her alley. It also comes in blue – Kate’s signature color!

Micro-brushed, cotton blend dress, Victoria Beckham
A classic, clean look designed by one of her friends – need I say more?

Pleated silk crepe dress, Chloe
This would look fantastic as is or with a blazer and the color is one that I wish we would see Kate in more often.

Again, the downfall of Pinterest – no idea who makes this dress! It would be perfect for a night at the National Portrait Gallery.

Ermanno Scervino Spring/Summer 2012
The most coveted dress on my Pinterest boards by far. This might be considered ‘risky’ for Kate, but how amazing would she look in that long, tailored skirt?

Petal-collar wool-blend dress, Oscar de la Renta
This is quintessential Cambridge – neutral color, classic fit, paired perfectly with her L.K. Bennett nude pumps. I could see her wearing this to Trooping the Colour or an engagement with Her Majesty.

Black Tie Elegance

Jason Wu, Fall 2011
This dress is absolutely stunning! Kate proved in Malaysia that she can pull off gold well (okay, she can pull off anything). Paired with her sparkling Jimmy Choo stiletto sandals, Kate could turn heads in this shimmering frock.

Embroidered tulle gown, Alberta Ferretti
This dress would look quite elegant on Kate for her next royal dinner party at Buckingham Palace or on an overseas tour. Hair up of course!

Again, I have no clue where this dress came from but I think it speaks for itself.

Elie Saab
I have made no secret of the fact that my dream designer for Kate is Elie Saab. How she hasn’t discovered Saab yet is baffling to me, but either of these dresses would be heavenly on Kate.

Now I’m just on an Elie Saab kick…

Do you envision The Duchess of Cambridge in any of these looks? Who is your dream designer for Kate? Leave some comments!

Royal Wrap-Up

Hello royal friends! I know I have been delinquent in my blogging duties lately – I blame my recent vacation to Hawai`i. Now that I’m back, let’s catch up on the events of the past few days!

Queen Elizabeth II Celebrates Her 86th Birthday – Saturday, April 21

This past Saturday, Her Majesty turned 86-years-old with the help of a 21-gun salute from the Royal Navy. The annual salute took place at Portsmouth Harbor on the south coast of England. Queen Elizabeth II’s birthday will be honored again on June 16 with a special celebration at Buckingham Palace.

The London Marathon

On Sunday, April 22, 37,5000 took to the streets for the 32nd annual London Marathon. Despite “beating” the world’s fastest man, Usain Bolt, in a friendly race in Jamaica last month, Prince Harry was there to show his support. The 27-year-old prince awarded medals to the participants, but of course it would not be a Harry appearance without a little fun and games; Harry teased the crowds that William and Kate would run in the 2013 marathon. Erase that penciled in date off your calendars, Mini Middletons, The Palace confirmed Harry was up to his usual tricks and the comment was purely a joke. Hey, they still have a year to change their minds..

Prince Harry to Return to the United States

It was announced on Monday morning that in two weeks time, Prince Harry will make a very welcome return to the United States on May 7. Harry will be honored by the Atlantic Council at a dinner in Washington D.C., receiving the council’s “Award for Distinguished Humanitarian Leadership.” The award is in recognition of the charitable work by he and his older brother, Prince William, for wounded servicemen on the road to returning to civilian life. I would like to add that the nation’s capital is only 3 hours from me, so, if anyone has any connections at the Atlantic Council, I am currently accepting applications for my new best friend.

Finally, I would like to share the best thing Huffington Post Style has ever created – a year in the life of Prince Harry. Swoon away… The Huffington Post, Style.

The article even resulted in a http://twitter.com/#!/HuffPostStyle/status/194851229027930112 from your very favorite blogger..me!
