Dressing Kate: NYFW 2013

New York Fashion Week 2013 has come and gone and with that comes about a thousand looks that The Duchess of Cambridge could walk off the runway in. We all know Kate looks great in just about everything she puts on; I say “just” because who can forget the blue Erdem dress from Trooping The Colour last year? Believe me, I’m trying to. However, dressing a pregnant Kate is quite different from dressing an incredibly fit Kate.

I’ve picked out looks from the newly debuted fall collections that would look stunning on the fashionable duchess and the baking royal biscuit. (Trying to avoid the term “baby bump” as much as possible to spare @Heather84A a heart attack). I know she will no longer be pregnant come the fall, but let’s be honest – I would be here all day selecting pieces she would look stunning in on a regular basis. The entire Badgley Mischka, J Mendel Monique Lhuillier and Naeem Kahn collections come to mind..

jenny-packham13

Can Kate please go back to the South Pacific and wear this Jenny Packham gown?

j-mendel-07

J Mendel – we all know how much I love Kate in a classic white coat!

monique lhuillier

Monique Lhuillier – THIS is the money dress. This needs to happen. Get St. James’s Palace on the line, stat.

monique-lhuillier-30

Another absolutely perfect Monique Lhuillier gown

naeem-khan37

Naeem Khan – for early in the pregnancy, the print wouldn’t look too flattering with a big belly

nicole-miller26

A little bit of a risk for HRH with this Nicole Miller dress. Again, great for early on in the pregnancy!

oscar-de-la-renta-38

Oscar de la Renta.. you cannot go wrong with Oscar. Kate cannot go wrong with red. Win win!

rachel-roy-28

Rachel Roy – would be something different for Kate, but I do love this color.

ralph-lauren-39

Ralph Lauren – a designer Kate should be wearing more of. Classic, elegant..perfection.

rebecca-minkoff14

Rebecca Minkoff – the coat.

tadashi-shoji14

Tadashi Shoji..we don’t really see Kate in velvet, could look beautiful on her.

venexia

Venexia..LOVE.

Vera-Wang-RF13-3287-lgn

Again, a bit of a risk for her but you cannot go wrong in Vera Wang! This would be lovely for a royal engagement late in the pregnancy.

zac-posen04

This Zac Posen jacket looks a lot like something we would normally see Kate in. Get in the royal closet, please!

Which of these looks would you like to see Kate in? Who is your favorite designer for the pregnant duchess? Leave some comments!

Throwback Thursday: Thank You, St. Andrews University!

In honor of Valentine’s Day (yuck), let’s revisit my favorite love story..

What seems like a million years ago, a young prince with a full head of hair went off to Scotland to meet his future queen, I mean.. get a college degree.

The Middleton Family (released upon engagement)

I wish I had gotten the “Britain’s top matchmaking university” memo when I was applying for my semester abroad. Although a slew of British girls who had probably read that very fact made their way to St. Andrews University to mingle with Prince William, it was Kate Middleton who caught his eye. Even back then her dresses were turning heads..

Sorry, I prefer you in floor length Jenny Packham gowns Kate.

In 2005, they left their bubble (one in which William actually attempted to cook I might add), graduating into a world of paparazzi, break-ups and make-ups. He earned a 2:1 in Geography, she a 2:1 in History of Art and all of us earned a lifetime of hair and McQueen wardrobe envy.

..and they lived happily ever after! Odds that they name the child Andrew? 😉

BABY CAMBRIDGE IS COMING!

KATE IS PREGNANT!

The only way you haven’t heard this yet is if you are literally living under a rock (or were on a plane when the announcement was made.. like me). Go figure, I haven’t flown since April and for 3 hours I am without access to the outside world and the news we’ve all been waiting for is announced. I’m just confused as to why the captain didn’t make an in flight announcement.

Unfortunately, the news does come with some distress as Kate was admitted to the hospital today with Hyperemesis Gravidarum, aka acute morning sickness. Perhaps it was the game of hockey she played in heels the on Friday? (BTW, great diversion tactic Kate). I’m sure this is not how Their Royal Highnesses envisioned sharing the creation of the latest heir to the throne, but hopefully The Duchess of Cambridge is sitting on her couch in Wales playing with Lupo in no time!

Now that royal baby watch is finally over the next question is  – will the baby wear white McQueen to its christening? And what designers will start a line of Kate inspired maternity clothes? Kate can’t go without McQueen and Jenny Packham for nine months. Will her feet swell up so much she can’t fit in her L.K. Bennett nude heels? Regardless, Kate will be the most stylish, adorable pregant woman anyone has ever seen.

Congratulations William and Catherine!

Oh, and let’s not forget that a royal baby means Prince Harry, the uncle. Hello Harry holding a baby photos!
