Throwback Thursday!

Welcome to the first post of my newest blog installment – Throwback Thursday! After Harry’s return last week and the last minute ambush to get posts up, I got to thinking about the “royal news cycle.” When something major happens the posts go up like girls’ swoon levels when they see H in his fatigues, but no news = no posts. Throwback Thursday is my solution! From now on, I will revisit a favorite royal moments/news stories from B.B. – before blog. Let’s see how long this lasts..

In honor of Captain Wales’ return (yes, I will be celebrating this for a while), I’m throwing it back to where it all began for the soldier prince..

????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

When Harry was eight-years-old, his mother, Princess Diana, brought him along to visit the barracks of the Light Dragoons in Hanover, Germany. From then on Harry dreamed of being in the army and he was destined to have that dream fulfilled. That’s funny, in 1993 I was dreaming of becoming a princess.. yea, I’m looking at you Captain!

???????

Twenty years later Prince Harry has returned from his second tour of duty in Afghanistan and was named top co-pilot gunner in his class. He has also grown into that uniform quite nicely..

Break Out the Tequila & Lock Up Your Daughters..

..That’s right, Prince Harry has made landfall in the UK after decrompressing in Cyprus on the way home from his 20 week tour of duty in Afghanistan. After arriving at RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire to snow covered grounds (slight change of weather from his time in the desert, huh..) a freshly tanned Harry gave one more interview about his time in Afghanistan and what’s to come in 2013.

Good news for us – Captain Wales says he is looking forward to taking on more “royal stuff” in 2013 – after a 4-5 week leave of course! Not surprisingly, the uncle-to-be can’t wait to visit with his brother and sister-in-law..behind closed doors, no media present! Glad to see the harshness of the front lines hasn’t stolen his priceless sense of humor.

He could make the world’s dumbest comments right now and I would not even care, the excitement levels are at an all time high and I know I speak for a lot of you when I say I am just thrilled to have him home!

Is it just me or has Prince Hottie gained a new smoldering face while he was away? Whatever it is, keep it up H!

Have I mentioned how thrilled I am to have him back? Enjoy the time off Harry.. we can’t wait to see what you have in store for us this year!

Welcome Home Prince Harry!

I’m going to give you all an insider’s tip – when you see that I am away on vacation, keep your eyes glued to Twitter because that is when all of the exciting news will happen. Yes, I was out of town and away from my phone/computer when news broke that Prince Harry has left combat in Afghanistan, just as I was when The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge announced the pregnancy.

FINALLY, Prince Harry is out of danger and headed home to the UK! I hadn’t realized it until now, but I have definitely been holding my breath for the past five months. Thanks for the wrinkles, Captain Wales.

Since I am so behind on the most exciting news since, well.. December 3rd, you all know by now that one of Captain Hottie’s most revealing interviews to date has been released upon his return. Max Foster’s CNN article serves as a great round-up of all the highlights.

Those royals sure know how to tag team it don’t they? William & Catherine come out with the big news while Harry is out of the spotlight and just as the parents-to-be take a step back.. enter the rowdy royal, stage left.

I’m going to pretend that the brevity of this post is because I’m still so excited that I can barely string a sentence together, let alone type an ode to Harry, but really he just picked an extremely inconvenient time to come home. Can’t he see that I’m traveling and working here? Hopefully by the time he is done decompressing in Cyprus I will have my act together.

Confession: I Miss Prince Harry

Prince Harry is not even halfway through his deployment yet and I am already missing regular updates from @HWalesWatch. And no, I am not counting the stories on his Vegas party companion getting thrown in jail or Harry’s Pippa filled storytime at Camp Bastion as news.

Okay, if I’m being honest I mostly miss the white pants and sharp navy blue suits..

To cope with Prince Hottie withdrawals, I decided to reflect on the top ten reasons to love the 28-year-old royal…in no particular order.

1. He is currently fighting for his country in Afghanistan..flying deadly helicopters. He could have used his title to get thrown on a desk job back in the UK, but no.. Captain Wales wanted to be out on the front lines with his men, shooting down bad guys. HOT.

2. Not only is he good with kids, but he devotes a lot of his time to being there for children in need. Oh, and let’s not forget looking after the bridesmaids and page boys during the royal wedding – don’t forget to wave kids!

3. He is charitable. Not just sit behind a desk and donate tons of money charitable – he gets out there and he fights for the causes he believes in. He trekked to the North Pole with Walking With The Wounded. He established his own charity, Sentebale, aiming to positively change the the lives of vulnerable children in Lesotho.

4. He knows how to have a good time. Don’t think this one needs further explanation.

5. Harry has an edge. Motorcycles, breaking the royal rules of engagement, partying like there’s no tomorrow..c’mon ladies, you all know you like a bad boy.

6. In case you needed a reminder – he is a PRINCE. Of course that is not a reason to love someone, but let’s be honest.. it’s a factor.

7. The name ‘Prince Hottie’ did not appear out of thin air.. he’s the best looking redhead on the planet.

8. His sporting prowess is not limited to rocking white pants on the polo field. Aside from being an all-star polo player, he enjoys rugby, futbol..he’s even gotten down and dirty on the volleyball court. Although he could use some help with basketball.

9. The “H” in Harry probably stands for hysterical. From messing with the paparazzi on his first day of kindergarten “Dude of Cambridge” joke at his brother’s wedding, H could double for a stand-up comedian.

10. The youngest son of Prince Charles and Princess Diana is a family man. His bond with brother, Prince William, is beyond adorable and he immediately accepted Kate as if she were his actual sister.

Here’s hoping Captain Wales is off kicking some serious Taliban tail in Afghanistan.. we all look forward to an influx of white pants and parties upon his return.
Do you miss your daily dose of Harry? What do you love most about the prince? Leave some comments!

Jamaican Me Crazy!

Today, Prince Harry wrapped up his first official overseas tour in Brazil..and I am days behind. Although he left Jamaica on Friday, I am still catching up!

The third stop in Harry’s Caribbean tour was the most anticipated and important of them all as Jamaica has been talking of leaving Queen Elizabeth’s reign – I think it is safe to say Her Majesty knew exactly what she was doing when she sent Harry there on her behalf. From the moment he touched down to the moment he left, Prince Harry charmed the dancing shoes off the Jamaican people.

Looking dashing in a navy blue suit, Prince Harry arrived in Jamaica to a salute from the armed forces. You can watch his arrival on The Royal Channel on YouTube.

In what observers are calling one of the greatest royal moments in a long time, Prince Harry took to the track at the University of the West Indies to race the fastest man in the world, Usain Bolt. This meeting has been talked about for months, and although Usain Bolt claimed he would not let Harry win, the comical prince left Bolt in the dust as he false started his way to victory. The BBC has full video of this hilarious encounter, an absolute must see.

Major credit has to be given to Chris Jackson for his outstanding photography skills, capturing the mood of the day perfectly with one incredible shot.

I will pay big money to anyone who can get me that shirt. Must. Have.

The fastest prince alive then changed into that perfect linen suit and visited Bustamante Hospital For Children where he continued to spark conversation about his striking similarities to his late mother. Harry once again proved to be a natural with children, lifting their spirits and clearly enjoying every moment of it. Diana was scheduled to visit the hospital in 1997 before her untimely passing.

The true test of Harry’s charm came later that day in a highly anticipated meeting with Prime Minister Portia Simpson-Miller. All eyes were on the blossoming prince as he came face to face with the woman who has made her feelings of The British Monarchy all too clear. From a photo call on the steps of the national monument Devon Hall to the state dinner at King’s House, Prince Harry blew the Prime Minister away with his dashing personality and she quickly embraced him. Something tells me Grandma was beaming from ear to ear after these photos surfaced..

At the evening’s dinner, Prince Harry made a speech where he let his love for the country be known, commenting: “I haven’t been here for long, but – wow – if I had, I’m not sure my Grandmother would get me back.” Cheeky Harry embraced his inner comedian, opening the speech with the infamous line: everything liddle ting gonna be aright! To read the prince’s full speech, visit The Prince of Wales’ official web site. You can watch it here.

Harry broke out his blue suede dancing shoes on a visit to Rise Life in an impoverished area of Kingston; the center helps local children reach their full potential through the aid of music. There, Harry met Rita Marley, wife of the late, great Bob Marley. Rita honored the prince with a touching gift – a scarf the ‘One Love’ singer had worn during his touring years. No meeting with a Marley can be complete without good old fashioned reggae dancing, and please, if you know what’s good for you, you will watch this video.

Harry visited Up Park Camp to partake in exercises with the Jamaica Defense Force, even meeting up with Sandhurst cadet Lieutenant Kayon Mills. Although scaling down his agenda due to breaking news of tragic British deaths in Afghanistan, the respectful prince still took to the firing range, scoring an almost perfect 39 out of 40. Lighting up an intense and somber mood, Harry joked with the crowd – “does anyone with a camera want to stand at the other end?”

No Jamaican trip would be complete without a visit to Sandals resort, where Harry wrapped up his adventure at the Montego Bay vacation spot. At the private dinner, Harry was gifted two bottles of rum – one for him, one for his brother.
